It is also slightly elastic, non-toxic and tasteless. It is a product of polymerization under low pressure conditions catalyzed by Ziegler catalyst, so high density polyethylene is also called low pressure polyethylene.The unique characteristics of various grades of HDPE are the appropriate combination of four basic variables: density, molecular weight, molecular weight distribution, and additives. Advantages of HDPE:
1. HDPE has excellent resistance to most domestic and industrial chemicals. It is resistant to corrosion and dissolution by strong oxidants, acid-base salts and organic solvents.
2. HDPE is non-hygroscopic and has good waterproof and steaming properties. It can be used for moisture proof, anti-seepage or packaging.

3. HDPE has good electrical properties, especially high dielectric strength, making it suitable for wire and cable. Medium to high molecular weight grades have excellent impact resistance, both at ambient temperatures and even at low temperatures of -40F.
4. HDPE has good processability and heat sealability.

The disadvantages of HDPE:
